the trip to the dentist
dr ho at smiling works is such a nice guy. a warm young chap he is. an estimate of his age would be thirtyish?
he has dispelled my fear of the dentist. but i must say that still exists up to a certain extent. childhood memories of the evil and glum tooth digger is not that easily erased.
-shivers in fear-
and now as i type this entry out, my grandmother is behind me sharing with me her horror stories at the dentist. not a very good move granny!! she talked about blood gushing, food entering the hole?!!
and most of all the resounding chilling word of pain pain pain..
but i must conclude, i am actually quite looking forward to this next visit. in some weird little way of mine, this appears like an initiation into adult hood. the ultimate phrase that everyone goes through..
mum, dad! i ain't your baby no more!!

the wedding
During the car ride home yesterday, the parentals were talking about this topic of weddings and marriages, because as we all know they come hand in hand.
They were comparing the age of getting hitched with the passenger on board, Hairul. Asking him when he was getting married and all..
I realised with a jolt that my parents got married at the ripe old age of 24/23.
Now if you relate it to me. I'm currently already 20, and taking into consideration my future, should i continue my education in the university followed by work.. this would make me 24? when i graduate.
How would that leave me with enough funds to get married at the same age as my parents.
Now, this got me wondering. How would any other young Singaporean ever manage to save up enough money for marriage in their twenties?
What could the cause of this be? The most imminient factor as i see is our education system. It brings us all the way to the our mid twenties before we are finally let loose into the working world.
The career options we seek. The burdens we take upon ourselves. Independence and most importantly Money money money ...
The bottom line is that...
Not mentioning my insecurities, lack of independence, housing, car, lack of a spouse candidate.......sob..my poor children are going to face a generation age gap with me..
How am i ever going to be able to get married by 23/24?
Digressing.. A whining dog is such an irritant, especially when your grandma has taken all the pretence, line hook and sinker. Bah.. cute yes...but still an irritant nontheless.. urgh
